about

DAMOKLES returns with the 3rd single "Something's Amiss At The Hive", from the upcoming 2nd album. Oslo-based Damokles released their debut album "Nights Come Alive" last year 2022 on Vinter Records. The follow-up “Swing, Pendulum, Swing” is due out Oct. 6 2023, also on Vinter, and now single no. three from the upcoming album is out. Thematically, the track presents juxtaposed and frantic snapshots in the midst of a societal structural collapse. Just another day at the end of the world, torn between self-preservation or simply succumbing to the waves. Sonically, it's a mischievous mix of our post-punky leanings and the emotional hardcore punk roots some of us have.

The single is accompanied with a music video directed by longtime artistic collaborator Kenneth Olaf Hjellum (release date TBA). Artwork: Gøran Karlsvik. Mix: Crystal Island Studio. Master: Alan Douches at West West Side Studio (The Promise Ring, Converge, Dillinger Escape Plan, Chelsea Wolfe, Mastodon, etc.)
Damokles: Kristian Liljan, Ronny Flissundet, Gøran Karlsvik, Fredrik Ryberg, Jonatan Eikum.

lyrics

SOMETHING'S AMISS AT THE HIVE
Something’s amiss at the hive
Max out all credit cards
And head for the nearest shelter

This preset is a torn and familiar web
Where only delusions are grand

So easy to get lost
Lost in the wilderness
Lost and bewildered
It's so easy to get lost
Lost in the wilderness
Lost and bewildered

Something’s amiss at the hive
Now that we’re all washed out
We can let these waves claim us
We can let these waves claim us, now

Bite and repent
Keep it together
Fuse and shuffle forever
Warped anatomy
Misplaced and left out
Seeps through floorboards
Whispers from cracks

Now that we’re all washed out
We can let these waves claim us
Now that we’re all washed out
We can let these waves claim us, now

This soil is pulsing
It feeds on our bones
This soil is pulsing
It's greeting its throne

Something’s amiss at the hive, now
